Golf's Leibfried Earns UAA Weekly Honor

New York University freshman Michael Leibfried captured the University Athletic Association (UAA) Golf Athlete of the Week award Monday.

Leibfried registered his second top-five finish in as many collegiate tournaments, placing third with a 36-hole, three-over-par score of 145 at the Duke Nelson Invitational at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont, last weekend.

In the final round, Leibfried carded an even-par 71 to help NYU finish second out of 24 teams.

A native of Rolling Hills, California, Leibfried finished tied for fourth at the St. Lawrence University Invitational on September 10. He finished with a three-over-par 147 in leading the Violets to a fifth-place showing out of 14 schools.

NYU returns to action Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24, at the Williams College Invitational.
